Monthly Statistic Report on Overseas Chinese & Foreign Investment, Outward Investment, Mainland China Investment (November, 2007)

According to the statistics of the Investment Commission of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (the Commission), the total number of applications of Foreign Direct Investment approved from January to November 2007 was two thousand and thirty-seven (2,037), an increase of 25.82% compared with the same period of the previous year. The amount of Foreign Direct Investment approved from January to November 2007 was US$14,137,525,420, an increase of 18.80% compared with the same period of the previous year. According to the statistics compiled by the Securities and Futures Bureau ("SFB"), the approved issuance of overseas securities by local companies from January to November 2007 reached a total of 6,098 million US dollars (ADRs and GDRs: 4,828 million US dollars; overseas bond: 1,270 million US dollars). On the other hand, because local companies adopt the globalization strategy, overseas investors are actively investing in local companies. According to statistics compiled by the SFB, Inward Investment in the Taiwan stock market from January to November 2007 reached a total of 7,527 million US dollars, which indicates local companies still actively use overseas investment capital.
The total number of applications of Outward Investment approved from January to November 2007 to all regions but Mainland China was four hundred and thirty-five (435), an increase of 1.87% compared with the same period of the previous year. The amount of Outward Investment approved from January to November 2007 to all regions but Mainland China was US$5,126,511,830, an increase of 65.23% compared with the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the total number of applications of Investment to Mainland China from January to November 2007 was nine hundred and seventeen (917), a decrease of 6.71% compared with the same period of the previous year. The amount of Investment to Mainland China from January to November 2007 was US$8,448,607,210, an increase of 31.99% compared with the same period of the previous year.
