According to the statistics of Investment Commission of the Ministry of Economic Affairs,2,759 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$5,547,732,000 were approved from January to October 2017. This indicates a decrease of 2.78% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 46.09% in FDI amount compared with the same period of 2016.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China,114cases were approved with an amount of US$179,565,000 from January to October 2017. This indicates decrease in the FDI amount 16.87 % compared with the same period of 2016. Aggregated from July 2009 to October 2017, 1,061 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$1,870,409,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (except Mainland China), 396 projects were registered from January to October 2017 with a total amount of US$8,611,145,000 indicating a decrease of 4.81% in the number of cases,and a decrease of 16.84% in the amount as compared with the same period of 2016.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 424 applications have been approved from January to October 2017, indicating an increase of 125.53% compared with the same period of 2016. The approved investment amount is US$6,849,079,000，7.95% less than the same period in 2016.
