According to the statistics, 3,418 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$9,144,336,000 were approved from January to December 2020. This indicates a decrease of 17.00% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 18.32% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019.
      With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 90 cases were approved with an amount of US$126,311,000 from January to December 2020. This indicates a decrease of 37.06% in the number of cases, and a increase of 29.98% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019. From July 2009 to December 2020, 1,461 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,411,282,000.
      In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 516 projects were registered from January to December 2020 with a total amount of US$11,805,105,000 indicating a decrease of 22.99% in the number of cases, but a increase of 72.31% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2019.

     As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 475 applications have been approved from January to December 2020, indicating a decrease of 22.13% compared to the same period of 2019. The approved investment amount is US$5,906,489,000, 41.54% more than the same period in 2019.
